The Ninth Session

The Council of Representatives held its ninth session of the second legislative term of the first legislative year of the sixth electoral cycle, chaired by Mr. Haibat Al-Halbousi, Speaker of the Council, today, Tuesday. The first reading took place of the proposed First Amendment Law to the Law on Supporting Physicians No. (36) of 2016, submitted by the Legal Affairs Committee. The Council completed the first reading of the proposed Law on Granting Employees Extended Ordinary Leave, submitted by the Legal Affairs and Finance Committees. The Council concluded the reading of the report and discussion of the proposed Third Amendment Law to the Iraqi Jurists Union Law No. (137) of 1981, submitted by the Legal Affairs Committee. The Council of Representatives also completed the reading of the report and discussion of the proposed Law Amending the Legal Profession Law No. (173) of 1965, submitted by the Legal Affairs Committee. Members' interventions focused on presenting their observations regarding the amendment of the Jurists Union Law  and the Legal Profession Law during the session, part of which was chaired by Dr. Farhad Al-Atrushi.
