The First Session

The Council of Representatives held its first session of the second legislative term of the first legislative year of the sixth electoral cycle, chaired by Speaker Haibat Al-Halbousi, on Monday, 6/7/2026. The session included:

- First reading of the proposed Information Technology Crimes Law, submitted by the Security and Defense and the Legal Affairs committees.

- First reading of the proposed First Amendment Law to the Minors Welfare Law No. (78) of 1980, submitted by the Legal Affairs Committee.

- First reading of the proposed Law Amending the Advocacy Law No. (173) of 1965, submitted by the Legal Affairs Committee.

- First reading of the proposed Law on Financing the Strengthening of Iraqi Air Defense Systems, submitted by the Security and Defense Committee
