The Third Session
The Council of Representatives held its third session of the second legislative term of the first legislative year of the sixth electoral cycle, chaired by Speaker Haibat Al-Halbousi, on Sunday, 19/7/2026, with (182) MPs in attendance. The session included:
- Voting to annul the appointment of Mr. Muhyi Murtadha Al-Qazwini as head of the Federal Service Council along with his two deputies, recommending that the government hand the Council's administration to its oldest member.
- First reading of the proposed Twenty-Second Amendment Law to the Staffing Law No. (25) of 1960, submitted by the Finance and Legal Affairs committees.
- First reading of the proposed Third Amendment Law to the Jurists Union Law No. (137) of 1981, submitted by the Legal Affairs Committee.
- First reading of the proposed Second Amendment Law to the Chemists Syndicate Law No. (43) of 1970, submitted by the Committee of Labor, Civil Society Organizations, Federal Service Council, Youth and Sports and the Legal Affairs Committee.
- First reading of the draft First Amendment Law to the Sunni Endowment Office Law No. (56) of 2012, submitted by the Committee of Regions, Governorates Not Incorporated into a Region, Planning, Government Program, Endowments, Culture and Tourism.
