On (31/7/2023), the House of Representatives held its fifth session of the second legislative term of the second legislative year of the fifth electoral cycle under the chairmanship of Muhammad Al-Halbousi, and the session included: - The First Vice- Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, chaired part of the session - Representative Faleh Al-Khazali read a statement commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Abu Abdullah Al-Hussein, peace be upon him, recalling the positions taken by Imam Hussein, against tyranny, steadfastness in the face of injustice and patience with affliction, and its defense of religion, and the need to draw lessons from this painful tragedy. - Representative Vian Sabri read a statement on the fortieth anniversary of the incident in the village of Barzan in the Kurdistan region, which led to the death of more than (8000) citizens of Barzanis in 1983, which was committed by the former regime, while calling during the statement to legislate the law to compensate the families of martyrs and Anfal in accordance with Article (132) of the Constitution. - Asking Representative Hassan Salem to host the Iraqi Foreign Minister to clarify the encroachment of the State of Kuwait on Iraqi territory and Khor Al-Zubair, where he directed the First Deputy Speaker of the House to submit a request accompanied by the signatures of the Representatives to host the Minister of Foreign Affairs in this regard. - Vote on the draft law on the preparation of police commissioners submitted by the committees of security and defense, legal, and higher education. - Voting on the draft law on the first amendment to the Private Security Companies Law No. 52 of 2017 submitted by the Security and Defense Committee. - Voting on the draft law on the accession of the Republic of Iraq to the International Convention on Search and Rescue at Sea (SAR) of 1979, submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee.
