On (16/4/2023), the House of Representatives held its twentieth session of the first legislative term of the second legislative year of the fifth electoral cycle, under the chairmanship of  Muhammad Al-Halbousi, in the presence of (198), and the session included:

-Voting in approval to the decision of the Council of Ministers related to calculating the retirement salary of the former Governor of Basra, Muhammad Musabah Al-Waeli, and the martyr Abeer Salim Nasser, Director of Karbala Municipality, after adding the paragraph to the agenda of the session at the request of 80 representative.

-The Finance Committee read its report on its vision of the draft federal budget law for the years 2023-2024-2025, in addition to the reading of the two supporting committees of strategic planning and federal service, and the economy, industry and trade their report on the draft law.

-The interventions of the ladies and gentlemen members of the House focused on demanding an increase in allocations for the development of regions and governorates, especially the investment aspect, and demanding the development of a list of debts owed by the Kurdistan Regional Government and reconsidering the increase in the amounts of salaries of the region, as well as demanding the development of a clear vision and taking into account the fluctuations of the oil market and increasing the allocations of the Ministry of Education to meet many of its requirements in addition to the Ministry of Agriculture and the inclusion of allocations of the defense mobilization to the ministry’s budget.

After that, it was decided to make the session open and to resume at one o’clock in the afternoon to complete the discussion of the general budget law.
